Abstract

Selecting 6 female collegians in their twenties whose hair had not been exposed to chemical treatment, the researcher divided them into A type and B type according to the thickness of their hair dependent upon permanent techniques, rock thickness, previous treatment and its frequency and gave them the same beatifying treatment as beauty salons give. Then the researcher picked out hair samples and observed them with the help of an electron microscope. The findings are as follows.
1. The levels of damage done by winding technique turned out to be croquignol technique, spiral technique and magic straight in the right order.
2. In terms of the little rod of ordinary treatment, the levels of accumulative damage done by treatment frequency showed 80 percent of falls in A type 3, magic A type 3 and magic B type 3, ad showed 50 percent of falls in A type 3 in case of the previous treatment of conditioners.
3. The thicker hair was, the less damage was shown. And the more frequent and the smaller the rods were, the larger the patterns of damage were.
4. The previous treatment of conditioners reduced the levels of hair damage in a substantial fashion, keeping hair cuticles stable.
Now that the survey reveals that permanent waves cause morphological damages to hair, measures should be worked out to minimize the damages. Since the accumulative treatment makes damages worse, it is necessary to approach the strength and weakness of working methods or to control the frequency of work.
